Once upon a time, Madagascar, the fourth biggest island on earth.
Offshore the african continent, Madagascar’s area is as big as France
and Belgium put together. Close to the african countries, Madagascar
remained implied in regional economic development.
Madagascar is a long island of 1580 km long with inter-tropical climates,
as its northern point is under the equator and goes down to the tropic
of Capricorn.
Only 580 km width, Madagascar have kept a real island
climate. Originated from the unique continent of ancient times,
Madagascar is a piece of the Gondwana that drifted away from what
became Africa.
The geological history and being an island made
Madagascar a very unique country with a great diversity of climates and
vegetation. Three grand areas can be considered, the narrow oriental
shore with a florishing tropical flora, the High Lands with a more
continental climate and the west coast that get less water,
caracterised by its semi-arid bushes.
