Discovery of Tsiribihina river and the Tsingy of Bemaraha

Western Madagascar :

From Antananarivo to Antsirabe « Tsiribihina river- the Tsingy of Bemaraha – the Kirindy reserve - the baobabs alley » to Morondava.

Introduction :

Cruise down stream on the quiet Tsiribihina river, beneath lush banks. Arrive at one of the most fascinating sites of madagascar, the Tsingy of Bemaraha, a limestone massif 180km long, with thousands of peaks and a 'forest' of limestone needles in a true labyrinth of canyons made by rain erosion. There can also be met lemurs in tropical forests.

- From april to october
- 8 days and 8 nights (3 days in hotel, 5 days camp out)
- from 2 to 12 persons, no special physical condition required for the tour.
- Car and ATV vehicule. 4 persons per ATV maximum
- Staff : A local guide, 2 skippers and cooks.

DAY 1 : ANTANANARIVO -ANTSIRABE

Leaving Antananarivo to Antsirabe by the highlands road. Visit of the market and discovering the workshop of a precious stone cutter.

DAY 2 : ANTSIRABE -MIANDRIVAZO

Visit of the lakes region all around the city.
heading west to Miandrivazo, starting point of the river cruise. Visiting the city and sunset on the river.

DAY 3 and 4 : Cruising down on the TSIRIBIHINA river

You will cruise on a fully equipped large houseboat, down the river, through gorges, hilly mountains, you will meet lemurs and enjoy swimming in natural pools and have a shower under little cascades. On the third day the landscape turns to wide spaces with baobabs and flamboyant trees here and there, picnic on a sandbank by the forest. Then the boat arrives in traditional villages, in the evening songs and dances in honour of guests.

DAY 5: Tsingy of Bemahara
At about noon, arrival at Belo, a little city and a very animated river port. Then all in a ATV heading to Bekopaka village and the Tsingy.

DAY 6 : The great Tsingy
One day hike with a local guide in the Tsingy limestone labyrinth, one of the most fascinating sites of Madagascar where you will see the big lemur Sifakas

DAY 7 : Manambolo river and the little Tsingy of Bemaraha
You will be canoeing in the impressive gorges of the river, in the shade and the silence of steep banks. You the discover the little tsingy in a greenish nature.

DAY 8 : BEKOPAKA- MORONDAVA
We finally arrive to the famous baobab path with sacred trees and lovers baobabs. Accomodation by ocean front and beaches.

End of stay.

       2° Boat transfer to the charming fishermen village of Belo, 80 km south.
       3° Flight to Antananarivo.
